Our crematorium and memorial grounds
Surrey & Sussex Crematorium has been a place of remembrance for local families since 1956. We’re proud to deliver every funeral service with compassion and care. We have two beautiful chapels to accommodate services of all sizes, with accessible facilities and two private family waiting rooms. Set within 13 acres of landscaped grounds, this is a peaceful place to honour and remember someone special.
A chapel for all faiths and beliefs
At Surrey & Sussex Crematorium our modern, thoughtfully designed chapels can accommodate funerals of all sizes. St Richard’s Chapel seats up to 130 guests, with external screens for larger funeral services, while our Memorial Chapel is an intimate space for up to 59 guests. Equipped with a state-of-the-art facilities, the chapels include screens to display photos and music systems to play pre-recorded music of your choice. We also have space for singers and musicians too.

A compassionate team to support you
If you need support to arrange a cremation in Crawley, or nearby areas such as Horley, Gatwick or East Grinstead, we work with local funeral directors, faith leaders and celebrants across Surrey and West Sussex. Surrey & Sussex Crematorium in Crawley offers two chapels — the 130-seat St Richard's Chapel and the smaller 59-seat Memorial Chapel — both equipped with a music system, screens for visual tributes and webcasting for those joining remotely. Two private family waiting rooms, a hearing loop and accessible facilities are also available. If you'd like to arrange a tour, please call us.

Cremation services at Surrey & Sussex Crematorium
We offer attended and unattended cremation services at Surrey & Sussex Crematorium
An attended cremation
Where family and friends come together for a funeral or memorial service in our chapel. You can personalise the service with music, readings and tributes. Loved ones will be able to spend a few moments with the coffin before leaving the chapel.
An attended direct cremation
This option enables families to attend the crematorium to see the coffin in the chapel. Although there is no funeral or memorial service, you can choose the music that is playing and will be able to spend a few moments with the coffin.
An unattended, direct cremation
A direct cremation means there is no funeral or memorial service in the chapel, and no mourners in attendance.

Our fees
All cremation fees at Surrey & Sussex Crematorium include:
• The use of our chapel
• A single tribute photo displayed on screen throughout the service (not available for attended direct cremations)
• The use of our state-of-the-art media system to play music of your choice
• All services relating to the administration and registration of the cremation, in line with statutory regulation
• Certificate of cremation
• Provision of a container for the ashes
• The option to witness the scattering of the ashes within our Gardens of Remembrance, or preparation of the ashes for collection
