We came to Houndwood Church and Crematorium on 7th August for our Uncle John's Celebrant service. It was organised by Keith Slater (of Seahouses). Everyone and everything was absolutely perfect.

Houndwood Church, Houndwood, Eyemouth, Berwickshire, TD14 5TP
Houndwood Church was built in the mid 1830s and held its first service in 1836, when it was known as Renton Chapel. Now a B-listed building, it was renovated and became Houndwood Crematorium in 2015. Set in the beautiful Berwickshire countryside, the crematorium features anItalianate tower and spacious chapel with traditional pews and tall arched windows. Please note that due to the age of our chapel which stands on a hill, the site may not be accessible to people with mobility issues.
Our traditional chapel at Houndwood Crematorium features large, arched windows that flood the space with natural light. There is seating for up to 120 family and friends, and for larger funeral services there is room for additional guests to stand. The chapel is equipped with modern facilities to help personalise the service, including a screen to display photos and music system to play music of your choice. We have space for singers and musicians too.

If you need support to arrange a cremation in Eyemouth, or nearby areas such as Berwick-upon-Tweed, Coldstream or Duns, we work with local funeral directors, faith leaders and celebrants across Berwickshire. Houndwood Crematorium is equipped with a music system, screens for visual tributes and webcasting for those joining remotely. Please note that the chapel is over 180 years old and access may be difficult for those with mobility needs — we'd recommend calling ahead if this is a concern. If you'd like to arrange a tour, please call us.

We offer different ways to create a lasting tribute within our memorial grounds.
Our memorial specialists are here to help you find something that truly reflects your loved one, from a tree vault, bench or plaque to a dedication in our Book of Remembrance.
