Our crematorium and memorial grounds

With over 60 years of service, Earlham Crematorium has become a trusted place to say goodbye. Set within three-and-a-half acres of carefully maintained grounds close to the heart of Norwich, this is a calm and welcoming space to come together, share memories and celebrate a life. Our accessible gardens feature native planting and sustainable memorial spaces, with a tranquil fishpond and our wildflower area – often visited by deer, hedgehogs, owls and butterflies.

A chapel for all faiths and beliefs

Our spacious chapel at Earlham Crematorium features a bespoke carved altar, a height-adjustable lectern and a vaulted ceiling with original roof beams. This is an accessible, welcoming space for up to 85 seated guests. To personalise the funeral service, we have a modern sound system to play music of your choice, and space for singers and musicians too.

A compassionate team to support you

If you need support to arrange a cremation in Norwich, or nearby areas such as Dereham, Wymondham or Attleborough, we work with local funeral directors, faith leaders and celebrants across Norfolk. Earlham Crematorium's chapel is equipped with a music system, screens for visual tributes and webcasting for those joining remotely. A waiting room with refreshments is also available. If you'd like to tour the crematorium and memorial grounds, please call us to arrange an appointment — we're here to support you every step of the way.

Cremation services at Earlham Crematorium

We offer attended and unattended cremation services at Earlham Crematorium

An attended cremation

Where family and friends come together for a funeral or memorial service in our chapel. You can personalise the service with music, readings and tributes. Loved ones will be able to spend a few moments with the coffin before leaving the chapel.

An attended direct cremation

This option enables families to attend the crematorium to see the coffin in the chapel. Although there is no funeral or memorial service, you can choose the music that is playing and will be able to spend a few moments with the coffin.

An unattended, direct cremation

A direct cremation means there is no funeral or memorial service in the chapel, and no mourners in attendance.

Our fees

All cremation fees at Earlham Crematorium include:

• The use of our chapel

• A single tribute photo displayed on screen throughout the service (not available for attended direct cremations)

• The use of our state-of-the-art media system to play music of your choice

• All services relating to the administration and registration of the cremation, in line with statutory regulation

• Certificate of cremation

• Provision of a container for the ashes

• The option to witness the scattering of the ashes within our Gardens of Remembrance, or preparation of the ashes for collection

Through the collaboration of the team at the crematorium, the undertaker and celebrant, the funeral service for my mother was tailored exactly to meet the wishes of the family. While there were only 12 mourners, the layout of the chapel was changed to reflect the small number attending. The ability to webcast the service was welcomed by the family members who were unable to attend and the availability of digital music meant we could include specific pieces of music. Overall, the service was very calm and dignified and we appreciated the flexibility provided by the range of facilities available at the crematorium.

The staff are friendly, respectful, supportive and all together extremely good at your jobs… we thank you all for your support during his service, we couldn’t have asked for more.
