Brighton & Preston Cemetery, located on the same site as Downs Cemetery, opened in 1886. Serving both Brighton and Hove, these peaceful cemetery grounds cover approximately 28 acres. With tree-lined drives and traditional Victorian architecture, the gates and burial chapel are grade II listed. The old chapel that still stands within our grounds was once part of Scabes Castle Lodge until around 1895. Originally used for services, it is now used as a marker for visitors to the grounds.
